Crag Cleanup & Climb

Trace Club Presents: Crag Cleanup & Climb

Featuring: Captura by Escalemos

July 20, 2024 | 4:00PM

Trace Club's Crag Cleanup and Climb with @EscalemosOrg's Captura workshop is coming to Mt. Rubidoux. The day will feature stewardship, community, gear raffles, and hydration from our friends @LiquidDeath.

Capacity is limited. As such, spots for the event will be allocated via a lottery system. Register below and keep in mind that the registration window will end this Wednesday (7/3). Selected participants will be notified by end of week.

Curious about Captura?

Captura by Escalemos is a photography workshop designed to connect photographers and subjects of all skill levels by providing peer support and fostering community access.

The aim of Captura is to empower participants to see themselves with dignity, both in front of the lens and behind it.

How does it work?

Sign up to participate in Trace Club’s Crag Cleanup and Climb to be automatically entered into our lottery. 20 participants will be selected and randomly paired up with a participating photographer for a 30 min photo shoot (following our crag cleanup). Participants will receive: 1 portrait and 1 dynamic climbing shot following the event.

Why focus on photography?

Often times folks are unable to view themselves as empowered individuals within climbing media due to a lack of involvement in the photographic process as historically underrepresented communities are traditionally not active participants/subjects. By focusing on integrating community into the process, we can collectively work to broaden who the subjects are that we view in modern climbing media as well as the photographers involved in the shoots.

Fabian Garcia

Fabian Garcia, the second-born child of Mexican immigrants, thrives on independence. Growing up as the "wild" or "forgotten" middle child had its challenges, but it also fostered a strong sense of self-reliance. Recently, climbing is Fabian's obsession. Despite starting only a few months ago, he's completely hooked. This adventurous spirit extends to his renewed interest in photography. After a stint in high school yearbook sparked a love for capturing moments, Fabian is re-exploring the world through a lens, this time with a mirrorless camera. He's still searching for his signature style, but the joy of experimentation fuels his passion.
